Important news from the Hamblin Trust
Dear members, supporters and followers,
Since the sale of the old Hamblin Centre site in May 2023, it is good to report that we have now published nine compilations of Hamblin’s old books, many of which have been out of print for some years and have made them available both as paperbacks and online as e-books. This is in furtherance of our mission to make Hamblin’s teachings as widely available as possible before the trust has to close.
Unfortunately, the trust’s income remains far below the level needed to cover our costs and our cash reserves are fast diminishing. Conscious of the substantial legal and accountancy support costs that arose from the sale of the site in 2023 that we might also have to meet on closure, and being aware that we will have to be able to cover redundancy costs at the same time, the trustees have decided to start the process of closing the trust down now in order to ensure we have sufficient cash to meet our liabilities. Accordingly, I regret to advise that we will now cease work on the next issue of The Hamblin Vision so that staff can focus on completing the remaining preparatory work on outstanding books.
The trust will cease all external activity after the Peace Day event on Friday the 19th September, with final closure expected by the 31st December to allow for transitional activities and the legal and financial formalities to be completed. This is, of course, a very sad development and brings to an end the long history of the trust’s inspirational and spiritual activities since HT Hamblin’s death in 1958 and its formation in 1960. However, there is some good news as well. Although our two loyal and hard-working staff – Caroline Harrison and Mike Jenkins – will ultimately be made redundant and will need to find alternative employment, they plan to continue the remaining publishing work in their own time once the trust is closed, subject to us being able to satisfactorily clear any legal, financial and charitable requirements. If they are able to proceed, we hope you will support them by continuing to remain on their email lists so that you will know about any new developments and the availability of new books as they become available. They will write to you later in the year to seek your agreement to this.
Members, subscribers and supporters can keep up to date by visiting our blog on https://www.thehamblinvision.org.uk/blog
For the immediate future, a few practical issues:
• Those of you who pay your membership subscription by standing orders should now contact your bank to cancel the payments. Some members will have paid by cheque for a year’s subscription which will mean that you will not receive the full benefit of your subscription. We shall be very happy to make a proportionate refund if you wish to contact us: office@thehamblinvision.org.uk.
• As the Peace Day on Friday 19th September will be the final event for the trust, we hope that as many of you as possible will support the event.
• A small number of Hamblin’s printed books will remain on sale from
www.thehamblinvision.org.uk after August but, after the 30th September, all remaining stock will be donated to various charities. Our newly published books and future issues will also be available to purchase via our website, as well as via the Amazon marketplace of your country, in paperback, hardback and eBook format.
You can find all of our recently published and re-issued titles at the Henry Thomas Hamblin Author Page on Amazon.
The Hamblin Trust and, until its sale in May 2023, the Hamblin Centre, has continued to offer a truly practical but nurturing spiritual environment for those with an interest in, and aspiration towards, living a more positive, inspirational and fulfilled life and touched many hearts. We shall mourn its passing. However, change is the nature of life and, as Hamblin said in his book, Within You is the Power: “Beginning and end, like change and decay, belong purely to the material plane and have no place in reality”. His spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those who have been touched, helped and uplifted by his simple yet profound teachings.
Hamblin’s teachings were for all, irrespective of race, religion or nationality and, in his earlier days, had members in many different countries. Even now that remains the case and many of his books have shipped to America and Africa as well as a number of countries in Europe. We hope that the universal nature of his teachings will continue to bring hope, healing and inspiration for spiritual growth in a troubled world.
Hamblin also wrote in his book Power to Transform the Life: “One of the greatest mistakes that we can make is to oppose change ... through this continual change God works out his perfect plan”. There is always much spiritual work to do in this world, and I am sure that Hamblin’s spiritual insight and energy will continue its impact on people, ways and places that we are not in a position to know. We feel privileged that we have been allowed the opportunity to play a small part in that.
I should also acknowledge the contribution of so many others who have come before us and, in a number of cases worked with us, to maintain the Hamblin work as long as possible. There are too many to name, but we recognise and are grateful for the loving contribution of so many members who were inspired by ‘the Hamblin vision’ and helped to keep it alive since his death in 1958. I will mention one, though – Elizabeth Medler - who deserves a mention for her part in developing and opening-up what became ‘The Hamblin Centre’ as a place for all to come to experience the beauty, tranquillity and spiritual energy that blessed all who came. For a period of 15 years she, like those in that position before her, served the trust with utmost dedication, commitment and untiring efforts to share and expand its blessings. I should also like to express my grateful thanks to our staff and trustees, past and present, our patrons, and our many volunteers for their support and individual contributions over many years.
And finally, I should like to express my thanks and gratitude to each of you for your continued support, particularly those of you who have remained members over many years. Thank you.
One final message for you from H T Hamblin himself, from his book, Simple Talks on Science of Thought: “… always keep your face towards the Light, and strive and aspire after the Good, the Beautiful and the True.”
Love and blessings,
Noel Raine
